FULL SAFETY IN MATERIAL HANDLING
Mistakes will always happen from time to time, wherever people may work. When it comes to operating fork lift trucks, human error is the most common cause of accidents at work. Lack of knowledge or poor concentration on the part of drivers result in trucks tipping over and causing very serious injuries, damage to loading and operating equipment, and massive disruptions to the workflow. A unique electronic driver assistance system from Linde Material Handling (MH), the Linde Safety Pilot, is now on hand to offer support with these issues. Via a display on the driver’s workstation, the Linde Safety Pilot helps the forklift truck driver to operate the work equipment safely and helps to avoid dangerous situations, minimizing the risk of an accident and improving occupational safety.
The Linde Safety Pilot display shows not only the load center of gravity, but also the load weight currently placed on the fork arms, the current lift height, the tilt angle of the fork arms and the maximum lift height up to which the load may be raised. To help drivers quickly identify all of these values, the display features a clear design, informative icons and minimum texts and numbers. The Linde Safety Pilot is not just an indicating instrument though: If drivers are working in critical areas or if operating errors occur, they receive a visual and acoustic warning, and the truck control unit also actively intervenes and regulates the truck functions.
