Marvell and Analog Devices have announced a technology partnership that leverages Marvell's industry-leading 5G digital platform and Analog Devices' broadband RF transceiver technology to provide fully optimized solutions for 5G base stations. As part of the collaboration, companies will offer fully integrated ASIC 5G digital front-end (DFE) solutions with tightly coupled RF transceivers and will collaborate to develop next generation Radio Unit (RU) solutions, which include optimized baseband and RF technology. for a wide range of functional splits and architectures.
"Marvell is delighted to partner with Analog Devices (ADI) in addressing an important opportunity represented by the upcoming 5G network architectures," says Matt Murphy, President and CEO of Marvell. “Marvell's leadership in the baseband, digital ASIC and transport processors, combined with ADI's RF transceiver technology, creates industry-leading architecture for 5G OEMs seeking to speed up time -to-market. "
The greater complexity of the 5G RUs, due both to the massive MIMO implementations and to the requirements of the mmWave spectrum, poses significant challenges for radio network and RF projects. To achieve low power, size and cost requirements for 5G, optimized partitioning of RF and mixed signal technology with digital ASIC and baseband silicon will be required. The combination of Marvell and ADI technologies, the best in the category, allows highly optimized HR projects that allow both standard and customized implementations.
"ADI has always been at the forefront of cellular radio technology," says Vincent Roche, President and CEO of Analog Devices. “We see a great opportunity in our collaboration with Marvell to optimize the digital and RF 5G chain for the benefit of our customers. The solutions we are developing together with Marvell will allow the construction of highly optimized and high performance products for this dynamic market ".
