AUTOMATION – ALL-YELLOW LOOK
Yellow is always fashionable in the industrial automation domain. With over 2.4 million CNCs and 250,000 robots installed all over the world, FANUC Corporation closed 2012 with full satisfaction and has approached the Hanover kermesse as leading actor.

The manufacturing revolution comes from far away, dating back to 1956 at the foot of Mount Fuji, in Japan. From there and then, FANUC Corporation (www.fanucfa.com) has been weaving a web around the world with its yellow yarn, establishing a reputation as innovative vendor of factory automation and robotics. A pioneer in the development of computer numerical control equipment, from the automation of a single machine to the automation of entire production lines. Almost sixty years later, the FANUC brand stands for excellence, an undisputed reference on the global manufacturing scenario.
SPEED, ACCURACY AND QUALITY: UNCOMPROMISED CNC
On the international stage of EMO, FANUC Corporation is presented itself a unique “cast” of leading-edge solutions for process control and industrial operations. When the Hanover fairground gates open, the curtain has been raised to reveal the CNC series 30i-B/31i-B5, designed for advanced smooth and accurate simultaneous 5-axis high-speed machining thanks to the new High-Speed Smooth TCP with new fairing technology, which drastically reduces cycle times while improving part accuracy and quality. For complex machining processes, this is the ideal combination of FANUC’s legendary reliability and modern high speed 5-axis features. In addition, series 30i-MODEL B controls (this includes 30i-B, 31i-B, 31i-B5, 32i-B e 35i-B) offers a newly enhanced high-speed and large capacity, multi-path PMC offering large scale sequence control with a maximum of 5 concurrent independent ladders. Execution of common instructions is over 2.5 times faster than previous generation.
The operating efficiency of CNC series 30i-B is further enhanced by the new hand-held unit iPendant, that offers mobile operability for large machine tools. The keyboard, combined with 6-4” color LCD display (also in touch version) provides for both MDI data operations as well as well as manual machine control operation as integrated by the machine builder Three position enabling switch on back can be integrated as required per safety requirements. Built in USB port supports I/O of data to standard USB flash drives.
For general industrial machine applications with up to 4 control paths, 32 total control axes, 4 simultaneous control axes and 16 axes by PMC axis control function that can be executed independently for each axis, FANUC has proposed Power Motion i–MODEL A CNC at EMO. Also optimal for applications with large servo motors (up to 10 in one CNC), this model reduces cycle time with a high-speed response function for quick axis start/stop and high-speed execution cycle of PMC. Power Motion i–MODEL A also has a pressure and position control function as well as a function for presses, emerging as an ideal candidate for press machines, die cushion, loaders, wire saws and winding machines.
One final remark about robots, another ace in the hole of the Japanese corporation. As yellow FANUC products, robots and CNCs talk together very easily thanks to the new Robot connection function. Easy operations are implemented in the CNC in order to move and see the robot positions through the CNC display and vice versa. Many operations are possible thanks to this option that make easier to realize a robotized cell with a “total yellow” look.
