Constant technology updating and tradition merge to provide customers with increasingly modern solutions at highly competitive costs. This is the key topic of Pentamac from Turbigo, near Milan, a company that has been directly operating in the market for about 15 years, leveraging an experience of 30 years in the world of machine tools, through a business initiative in the segment of numerical controls and auxiliary electronic equipment with Visel, a company that keeps its independence and integrates Pentamac’s activity.
A winning pair that can count on about twenty high-skilled employees and that, over the years, has strengthened its presence in the markets, leveraging the experience acquired in the workshops of its customers, whose needs have turned into the development of increasingly efficient tailor-made machines that keep up with technology development.
“Just after its foundation”, said Felice Pariani, the owner, “the company represented one of several production organizations created in the area and strongly motivated – also thanks to the desire of redemption and trust that dominated those years – to conquer a leading role in the world of machine tools”.
“Today, Pentamac is a company specializing in the design, production and sales of machining centers, milling and turning machines that exclusively incorporate Visel’s numerical controls. The mechanical structure of the machine is delivered by some of the most skilled suppliers from Taiwan that produce solutions according to the technical specifications of our company, while motors, equipment (electrical-electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems), CNC and different components are directly assembled at the company’s site”, explains Tiziano Pariani, owner and Managing Director of the company based in Turbigo.
All this stands for high quality and ensures the availability of spare parts and reliable assistance.
CUSTOMER ORIENTATION
The main reference market for Pentamac is the one that gathers companies operating in different areas of mechanical machining, from energy to aerospace, from molds and dies to medical products, just to make some examples. Some 40% of company production is exported in foreign markets: Russia, Brazil, Turkey, China, Ukraine represent the main Countries in which the company based in Turbigo operates and, more recently, also Germany; this is an important result that supports the new product diversification strategy, focusing on the production of higher-end machines, namely 5-axis CNC machining centers. After the success of the VHM vertical machining centers, designed to optimize the production of large parts, and VHF models (belonging to the same product family), for continuous five-axis machining with tilting head and continuous rotating table, Pentamac is planning to launch a new series of 5-axis machines.
“In this perspective, we have developed the new Pentax 640 machining center, equipped with a swiveling rotary table, which will be officially presented in October, during our Open House. It is a machine specifically conceived for production flexibility needs and complex machining operations, with strong levels of customization, mainly for electric and electronic components, but also for mechanical features, where different setups are possible. Indeed, our customer will have a wide option range as to spindle types, tool change systems, tool cooling systems and much more”, explains Pariani.
The quality and the reliability of machines, combined with particularly profitable prices, are the aces in the hole of Pentamac; the company can count on a very wide product range, supported by high quality pre- and post-sales service.
Just to make some examples, we describe some of the models of the Milan-based company. The new XHL and XL series traveling column working centers are used for milling, drilling, boring operations on ferrous materials, steels and cast iron also for big-sized workpieces, because the machine can leverage a longitudinal travel ranging from 2,500 to 7,500 mm. Big-sized vertical machining centers of VHM and VHF series have a sturdy structure made of meehanite cast iron and ensure great flexibility in machining operations with up to 5 axes with tilting head and continuous rotary table.
“The fusion of mechanical engineering, electronics and IT has marked the evolution of machine tools. What is still making the difference between manufacturers is the capacity to act in the market as a solution provider, preparing the suitable machine with custom setups, according to the specific problems of single pieces: that’s the reason why engineering and customization have become one of our primary targets”, explains Tiziano Pariani. “Reliability is the result of the optimization of all the features of components, integrated and harmonized in a group that enhances their performance potential”, Pariani concludes. Today, all those who are presenting an innovation in the world of machining centers cannot neglect the fact that the innovation share largely depends on electronic components, hardware and software equipping a machine.
SMART MACHINERY
Pentamac VHM and VHF machines are driven by five-axis numerical controls VSC 1030 - 1040 DM by Visel, particularly user-friendly solutions.
